Billing

Optional, per project. Rates, and turning billable time into invoices your clients receive.

Rates

A rate can be set for the project, or per person on it — a senior designer and a junior developer need not be billed the same. When an invoice is generated, each entry is priced by whichever rate applies to the person who logged it.

From time to invoice

• Time is recorded against tasks and marked billable — see time tracking.
• Generating an invoice collects the billable time that has not been invoiced yet.
• You review it, adjust the lines, and issue it.

Time already on an invoice is not picked up again, so generating twice does not double-bill anyone.

What the client sees

An issued invoice is visible to the client on that project. A draft is not — so you can prepare one, look at the total, and change your mind without anyone watching.

Numbering

Invoices are numbered in sequence and the number is fixed once issued. That matters for your accounts more than it matters day to day, but it is the reason an issued invoice cannot simply be deleted.
